The Artwork:

"Zwischenräume" is perhaps the best term to summarize Ivan Liovik Ebel's work. For him, the concept of Zwischenräume involves exploring the relativity of perception, forms of indistinguishability, and the relationship between time and space.
Ebel works with a variety of media including painting, print, installation, sculpture, and performance. In every case, he is interested in that moment of uncertainty and ambiguity where it becomes unclear what exactly is being seen. His focus is always on a very fragile situation that often only reveals itself upon a second glance.
Ivan Liovik Ebel, born in 1983, lives and works in Berlin. He earned a Master's degree in Contemporary Arts Practice from the Hochschule der Künste in Bern. In 2015, Ivan Liovik Ebel was nominated for the Berliner Art Prize. His works have been exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions: Kunsthaus Langenthal (CH), Kunsthalle Bern (CH), Neue Galerie, London (GB) and Bern (CH), Marks Blond Project, Bern (CH), ZQM Projektraum, Berlin (D), Lage Egal Projektraum, Berlin (D), Galerie Widmer Theodoridis, Zürich (CH), Annka Kultys Gallery, London (GB), Galerie Gilla Lörcher I Contemporary Art, Berlin (D), among others.
Galerie Gilla Lörcher is introducing a new exhibition format and a six-part series of one-week exhibitions from November 17, 2016, to January 19, 2017.
The exhibition format follows these parameters:
1 artist, 1 artwork, 1 week.
