Stefanie Lampert - Malerei, Papierarbeiten

Stefanie Lampert enjoys using her paintings as modules that can fit into various spaces. However, the painter creates her works not for the sake of the spaces but for their own sake. Through a patient painting process, she engages with the fundamental aspects of painting: color, form, space.

The color consists of many thin layers; the technique of oil painting further slows down the creation process. This often results in monochromatic areas in very subtle hues that exude a calm presence. Alongside flat canvas works, there are pieces that can be categorized between painting, relief, and object, which may consist of multiple modules. This makes them adaptable for an indefinite period. In specific spatial contexts, such as an exhibition, the image units can be rearranged; a new combination of elements is also conceivable and feasible.

In an exhibition, it is important for the painter to coordinate the images or elements with one another until a favorable relationship for the given situation emerges.

Heavy handmade paper, with strips of varying lengths and right angles related to each other, a hint of color in the thick brush strokes, is barely visible – yet the minimalist paper works captivate with their vibrant luminosity.
