Clear genre classifications are becoming increasingly difficult in contemporary art. Socio-cultural changes, technological advancements, and the complex demands of the art market challenge artists to engage in a new dialogue with the viewer. As a result, the boundaries between genres, techniques, and materials are becoming increasingly blurred.

With the group exhibition "Sixpack," 30works addresses this eclecticism by presenting artists such as AVone, Johann Büsen, Fabian Gatermann, Salvador Ginard, Harald Klemm, and Peintre X, who all evade clear categorization.

AVone's complex multi-layered views of New York reveal elements of Urban Art and Pop Art, while Johann Büsen digitally composes fragments of motifs into new visual realities, drawing from genre painting, surrealism, and collage techniques. Fabian Gatermann, on the other hand, arranges his serially organized works into hypnotic color fields, drawing equally from design, object art, and Op-Art. The virtuously distorted, fragmentary faces of Salvador Ginard reference the portraiture of old masters as well as Impressionism and Expressionism. This is further complemented by the bold, impasto portraits of Peintre X, which also incorporate subversive elements of Pop Art. Harald Klemm celebrates this as well, opening a dialogue around perception and interpretation with his photorealistic depictions of women.

To mark the exhibition opening on Friday, November 4, 2016, at 7:00 PM, 30works will raffle selected works from the artists' portfolios. Proceeds will benefit the Kölner Appell gegen Rassismus e.V.

The evening's laudation will be delivered by Lisa Steinmann, a member of the NRW state parliament.
