Papiers collés und zwei, drei Ausnahmen
The year 1912 is considered the birth year of collage, with Picasso and Braque signaling a tumultuous development. However, forms of the glued paper technique can be traced back to the 12th century: found in Japanese woodblock prints as well as in family albums or holy cards. While our exhibition does not extend that far back, it does showcase a surprisingly diverse array of treasures from 31 artists born between 1885 and 1974, masterfully bringing them together.
