Rusty, sharp-edged, and simultaneously glowing and reflective in neon colors – the steel works of Van Ray, backed with Plexiglas, skillfully showcase hard contrasts and oppositions. The result is a nostalgic nod to Pop Art, yet also futuristic stencils on surfaces that are sometimes unevenly rusty and at other times mirror-smooth.

With "The Rust of Rebellion," Van Ray presents a new level of his artistic creation: his new series of carved fragments from his explosion images elevates him into a new dimension of playing with the positive and negative elements of a work of art.
