The Verein Berliner Kabinett e. V. has awarded the Egmont-Schaefer Prize for Drawing to the artist Barbara Camilla Tucholski, who lives in Oevelgönne, Vienna, and Rome. This prize was established by the Verein Berliner Kabinett in 1998 in honor of the Berlin-based artist Egmont Schaefer (1908–2004). It aims to promote drawing as an artistic medium and to recognize the significance of drawing as a form of artistic expression. There are no formal requirements regarding age, background, or education, and since 2014, it has been awarded in collaboration with Galerie Parterre Berlin. The prize is awarded every two years and includes a monetary award of 1,000 EUR, an exhibition at Galerie Parterre Berlin, and a publication.

The award recipient is chosen by an independent and rotating jury, which includes the permanent member, the chairman of the Verein Berliner Kabinett, painter and sculptor Joachim Böttcher. Other jury members include: Dr. Katrin Arrieta, Artistic Director of the Kunstmuseum Ahrenshoop | Dr. Anita Beloubek-Hammer, Curator for Modern Classical Art at the Berlin Kupferstichkabinett, retired | Naomi Hennig (M.A.), program coordinator at Galerie im Turm in Berlin-Friedrichshain until the end of 2015 | Michael Freitag, Director of the Lyonel-Feininger-Galerie Quedlinburg | Hanns Schimansky, artist in Berlin, and Christian Ulrich, artist in Berlin and member of the Verein Berliner Kabinett.

In the jury's statement, it is noted: "The works of Barbara Camilla Tucholski have been dedicated to the drawn line for decades. This award recognizes a body of work that transforms real places into artistic spaces, where reflections on nature, spontaneity, and reduction coexist in a convincing and balanced relationship without illusionism."
