Ulrike Theusner und Dana Meyer - Welcome to Paradise

Ulrike Theusner and Dana Meyer (both *1982) belong to a generation that has inherited a world devoid of wonder.

Cluttered and overcrowded, this is the current state of the planet. Paradise appears at best in a greenhouse or as a tourist trap. The beautiful phrase "South Pacific Expedition" serves brilliantly as a nostalgic reminiscence. The two artists skillfully create a masterful assessment of the mental state of their generation using virtuoso techniques.

Ulrike Theusner's virtuoso and precise depictions of grotesque yet significant scenes, along with her affinity for allegories and panoramas, continue a long tradition of socially critical art. Her imaginary lineage stretches from Dürer to Hogarth and Goya, and includes Honoré Daumier, Heinrich Zille, and Banksy.

Dana Meyer's sculptures are characterized by unbridled energy, extreme expressiveness, and unique precision. Unlike the usual practice of gradually enlarging small models before casting, the artist forges them freehand from steel. This requires not only exceptional craftsmanship but also an extraordinary spatial imagination.

Our current exhibition presents a new facet of their art - the small format.
