30works brings the Big Apple to Cologne. The solo exhibition "New York Undercover" by the exceptional American artist AVone showcases contemporary pop art at its finest...

In the USA, he is recognized as an established figure in contemporary pop art: Anthony Vasquez, better known as AVone. His multi-layered works, primarily a tribute to his hometown of New York, stand out for their complexity and symbolic power. Through the patinated, sometimes rusted, sometimes cotton-like texture of his visual worlds, the city's landmarks and insignias are both demystified and romanticized. In doing so, AVone reflects on the contradictions of New York, which are mirrored in the duality of decay and reconstruction, beauty and transience, ignorance and overambition.

Using elements from collage and stencil techniques, painting, and tape art, infused with aspects of comic and hip-hop culture, AVone creates an atmosphere that impressively captures the multifaceted vibes of the Big Apple. This culminates in symphonic visual compositions. His pin-ups and supermodels also present an ambivalent stance, as AVone places them in exciting, socially critical contexts.
