Vent. Der Maler

Opening on Tuesday, January 19, 2016, at 8 PM with Hans Vent and the exhibition curators Dr. Roland März, former curator of the Nationalgalerie Berlin, and Kathleen Krenzlin, director of Galerie Parterre Berlin and the Kunstsammlung Pankow.

Galerie Parterre Berlin presents VENT. The Painter, marking the third solo exhibition of Hans Vent, a painter and graphic artist born in Weimar in 1934 and living in Berlin since 1953. He has been a member of the Akademie der Künste, Berlin, since 1990.

At the heart of the exhibition is Vent's painting, which spans a significant period of his creative output, as the title suggests. Loans come from the Lindenau-Museum Altenburg, the dkw. Kunstmuseum Dieselkraftwerk Cottbus, the Museum Junge Kunst Frankfurt (Oder), the Kulturhistorisches Museum Magdeburg, and numerous private collections, including the collection of Ulrike and Stefan Behrens, Villa am See, German Art of the 20th Century, Premnitz. The selection of works is complemented by corresponding studies and drawings that illuminate the origins of the canvases.

A comprehensive catalog, the most extensive to date on the artist's work, will be published as Working Paper XI of the gallery. It includes a foreword by Kathleen Krenzlin, current essays by Roland März and Claude Keisch, a conversation between Matthias Flügge and Hans Vent, as well as a wide range of voices on the work, a first detailed bibliography, and a revised biography.

104 pages, 61 images of works since 1953, 18 EUR.
