Karmen Kraft - Zerfall und Fetzen

Vernissage: March 11, 2016, at 7 PM

The creative universe of Karmen Kraft is rooted in the constraints and concerns of being human. Humanity is the focus of her work, captured through the vibrancy of its gaze. The eye reveals the most poignant moments of existence: the passage of time, experiences, rawness, strength, character, fears, and suffering.

At first glance, the compositions appear straightforward, but the artist disrupts them with involuntary structures and intuitive textures. The viewer is presented with splashes of color and ink that come together and then fall apart, moving inward and outward—background and figure intertwined.

Kraft works and experiments across all visual fields, primarily painting, illustration, and screen printing.

Her work is both poetic and provocative. It captures moments of intimate stillness amidst the restless chaos of events; her gaze seems to escape conventional situations, focusing instead on the search for beautiful introspection.

Oliver Schwarz is a Swiss director. His short film Traumfrau (2013) has won several awards and has been showcased at various film festivals worldwide.

Throughout his life, Dirk has searched for his dream woman. After failed relationships and a burnout, he finally finds his great love: Jenny—perfect at first glance yet fundamentally different. The film transports us to a world between dream and reality, one that feels foreign yet surprisingly familiar.
