As the year comes to a close, 30works embraces an Asian theme and presents a new series of works by the Hamburg street art icon mittenimwald.

From the very beginning of his career, mittenimwald has been fascinated by Japanese culture. The artist is particularly intrigued by the prevailing image of women there, along with the ritualistic costumes and the associated coded role-playing. sushi connection showcases masterfully crafted stencils of Geishas, Manga ladies, and Nippon Amazons, accompanied by provocative claims from mittenimwald. This once again reveals him as a master of suggestion. Upon closer inspection, the viewer is left wondering: Who is really observing, analyzing, and judging whom? Is it the observer looking at the supposed object? Or is it the other way around?

Instead of the usual objectification, mittenimwald portrays the image of a confident and strong Eastern woman. In her assertion as a proud subject, she deliberately counters our Western advertising and value system.
