Mareo Rodríguez - Soloausstellung "Estamos hechos polvo"
A look at matter, topography, and the natural landscape, conceived as a living entity. Latent and in constant motion; an epidermal construct shaped and consumed by time. A unique, telluric rhythm and language that progresses, pulses, gravitates, and generates tensions that emerge through the landscape.
In his artistic approach, Rodríguez seeks the intersections of different palettes, starting from the massiveness of mountains and rocks, through a process of unfolding and fragmentation, ultimately arriving at stone as the basic unit.
He is interested in matter that wears away over time, bearing scars and markings, rolling permanently as it dissolves, losing weight until it returns to its origin.
The artist's influence is, on one hand, the result of years of immersion in the fields of architecture and design, working with surface, material, and its connection to the earth, as well as the fact that he grew up in a city whose backdrop consists of a constellation of mountains.
In his creative process, the painting reveals an organic subconscious and an expressive method where watery acrylic paint swiftly glides with the spatula between glazes and textures, unveiling landscapes that are not premeditated.
He does not attempt to confine his work to a specific format or technique but continuously explores the various languages that can describe the power, energy, and vitality of a region.
