Erika Greilich - Soloausstellung
Erika Greilich – Solo Exhibition
"Zeitwesen"
Exhibition Duration: September 4 – 24, 2015
Opening Reception: September 4 at 7:00 PM
She weaves the thread in which we become entangled. Time is a deity created by us, one that we follow until the end. A construct from which we cannot escape, it makes us sick and then heals us again.
It is everywhere and serves as a link to our experiences. In her series, Erika Greilich illustrates the fabric of time and its subjects. She shares thoughts and insights that she has kept trapped in her mind for years, which she began to visualize at the end of 2014. This has resulted in a diverse array of surreal drawings and paintings in watercolor and dry media, where she attempts to capture time.
Born in Kyrgyzstan, Erika Greilich grew up in the Allgäu region amidst various cultures. Her work is characterized by socially critical approaches, often placing humanity at the forefront as a medium of expression.
Her pieces are striking for their fine hatching, and the color palette is always rooted in the artist's synesthetic abilities.
She primarily draws with colored pencils on wood or works in watercolor.
In 2009, she earned her specialized high school diploma in art from the Vocational School for Design in Augsburg. After studying media design, she is currently pursuing a degree in communication design at the University of Applied Sciences for Technology and Economics in Berlin.
For a long time, she saw her skills as rooted in design, but now her artistic works are increasingly being showcased to the public. Erika has exhibited in Würzburg, Hof, Hamburg, and Berlin.
Live Performance at the Opening: Nelly Hakkarainen (Finland) is a dancer and choreographer. In her work, she draws inspiration from visual art, creating powerful images and atmospheres through dance. She is interested in interdisciplinary art and has collaborated with photographers, musicians, and designers.
