Jaroslaw Grulkowski 9000 Meter ü.d.M

"I constantly carry in my memory the images seen through the airplane window. In favorable light, the layers of clouds create a spectacle of shapes, shadows, and colors. Sometimes they captivate with dynamic contrasts, while at other times they whisper intimate stories. The seemingly endless space stretching to the horizon is exhilarating. It shimmers in colors that only a divine architect could create. In my work, I attempt to freeze the clouds in stillness, to slice through them with my brushstroke and delve into their depths, counting the layers without touching them. I seek the tension before a thunderstorm, the lightness of each cloud dissolving before my eyes, the landscape of the undiscovered land above the earth..."

With these words, the artist Jarosław Grulkowski describes the creation of his paintings, drawings, and photographs presented in Görlitz. The works are a selection from three cycles: "Cross-section of the Cloud," "The Secret Life of Molecules," and "The Cloud Trap."
