"Aljoscha creates strange, organic images and objects inspired by his profound insights into bio- and genetic engineering. He is fascinated by the microcosm of organic forms and translates this into his highly complex and delicate works that defy conventional categorization. His sculptures and objects are made from thick acrylic paint, which the artist builds up slowly and meticulously—milligram by milligram, sometimes over several months—until the final form is achieved. This form is by no means predetermined; it 'emerges' as if the object, even in the earliest stages of its development, has a life of its own. The Ukrainian artist refers to his works as 'Bioisms' to emphasize their vital, organic nature. He considers all his pieces as 'living beings' and imbues them with as much dynamism, vitality, and complexity as possible. According to his own utopian—and perhaps slightly ironic—theory of 'Biofuturism,' the future will be shaped by a kind of biological revolution. As a result, people will sit on organic furniture, live in vibrant houses, and travel in organic spaceships. An artist's studio would resemble a laboratory where living artworks are created using organic substances—and thus new forms of life.

Aljoscha is a master of his craft. His rare paintings of complex, biomorphic landscapes are often created with a single-hair brush. And in his extremely fine, meticulously precise pencil drawings, which the artist calls 'Quintessences,' one might think they were made under a microscope. His computer-generated C-prints are based on a mathematical formula designed to calculate spatially complex natural forms. Aljoscha's ongoing quest for the perfect organic form, revealed and visualized through science and mathematics, finds its ideal expression here."
