DIETER GOLTZSCHE Florett

In celebration of Dieter Goltzsche's 80th birthday this year, the exhibition features drawings and colorful works on paper by the Berlin-based artist.

Dieter Goltzsche has always worked on paper, which continues to captivate him. It remains the medium that provides him with ample space and opportunities for his artistic endeavors, and it has remained one of the great constants in the diversity of his works.

Goltzsche's emotional connection to the medium of paper is largely rooted in his education under teachers like Hans Theo Richter, who emphasized the constructive aspects, and later with Max Schwimmer, an improviser primarily inspired by French art. Throughout his years of study, Goltzsche engaged with paper and the associated drawing materials, as well as printmaking. Later, he produced a significant number of colorful pieces, spotty watercolors, and temperas.

The exhibition, curated by Kathleen Krenzlin, showcases more than 80 works from the artist's collection spanning the years 1960 to 2014.

The opening will take place on Tuesday, November 18, 2014, at 8 PM, featuring Eugen Blume, director of Hamburger Bahnhof Berlin, and Kathleen Krenzlin, head of Galerie Parterre Berlin.

In conjunction with the exhibition, and in collaboration with Galerie Alte Schule Adlershof, the working booklet VI of Galerie Parterre will be published. In a conversation with Michael Lüthy, Dieter Goltzsche will share insights about his work and his artistic journey.

The exhibition runs from November 19, 2014, to January 18, 2015 (closed from December 20, 2014, to January 2, 2015).
