Berlin - Tokyo: An Abstract Inventory
For Martin Leuze, modern cities are like vast walk-in galleries, filled with impressive structures and forms, as well as random, fleeting arrangements of architecture, light, and shadow. In his work, Leuze seeks to highlight these moments and snippets from the masses: an aesthetic and visual interpretation and documentation of the urban architectural living space.
His visual worlds predominantly navigate through geometric, mostly uninhabited, and highly reduced fragments: a visually decelerated counterpoint to the overwhelming flood of images in our modern society.
This exhibition is an official part of the BERLIN LIVE event series, celebrating the anniversary of the city partnership between Berlin and Tokyo in 2014; supported by the capital campaign be Berlin, the Senate Chancellery Berlin, Merck Japan, and Shinseido TokyoBerlinArtBox.
