RAFAL KARCZ - Youth from a damned city

Rafał Piotr Karcz, born in 1969 in Krakow, studied art history at the Jagiellonian University and industrial design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. He works as a painter and photographer.

Karcz on his work:

"My paintings represent my own vision. I find inspiration in pop culture, independent street art, clubs, the internet, media, and press.

My art is not a reproduction – it is a processing of observations.

There is no day without a line. I start with drawing and strive for color. Workshop? – it was never important to me. In short: I see, think, create – at my own discretion.

I particularly value works where I depict human faces. I didn't notice their potential before, but my perception has evolved and enriched – different faces, different emotions, and I draw them out."

The artist's works have been the subject of many exhibitions in Poland, Germany, Japan, the USA, and Switzerland.
