REINHARD MINKEWITZ - Doppelwelle
Reinhard Minkewitz graduated in 1984 from the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst (HGB) in Leipzig. Rooted in figurative painting, the human form has always been a focal point of his work. With distinctive lines, Reinhard Minkewitz captures his models, fully trusting in their expressive power. He does not delve into intricate details but instead finds the essence in small and subtle gestures, which he then translates into charcoal on large canvases. His engagement with Greek antiquity adds an air of mystery to his figures, though revealing this mystery is not a prerequisite for appreciating these works, which are executed in a "quiet language of form."
Accompanying the drawings and watercolors in this exhibition are large-scale landscape paintings. Dramatic clouds tower above, while the sea remains strikingly calm in contrast.
