EDWARD BURTYNSKY WATER – Part II Photographs 2009 – 2013, New Releases

The second part of the exhibition WATER by Edward Burtynsky primarily showcases new and previously unseen works by the photographer. From 2009 to 2013, Edward Burtynsky worked on the series WATER, his most extensive project to date. WATER reveals the scale and impact of agriculture, industry, and consumption on the Earth's water resources.

However, Burtynsky also documents the various roles that water plays in our modern lives – as a vital yet endangered source of healthy ecosystems, as a key element in culture and religious rituals, and as a dangerously depleting raw material. The photographs, both beautiful and haunting, create a compelling global portrait that illustrates humanity's past, present, and future relationship with nature and its most essential resource, water.

Burtynsky captured images for the project in ten different countries. These range from parched fields in Spain to irrigation hubs and the catastrophic oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico in 2010.
