unfix. - Elisabeth Sonneck, Ka Bomhardt
Opening on Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at 8:00 PM with Dr. Ursula Ströbele, art historian, UdK Berlin, and Kathleen Krenzlin, director of Galerie Parterre Berlin
“The activation of a place, the action within and with it, creates space, as seen in the gestures and markings of Ka Bomhardt and Elisabeth Sonneck in their exhibition ‘UNFIX.’ Like a ménage à trois, a triangular relationship unfolds in the Berlin Galerie Parterre between the artistic works and the spatial conditions, fostering a dialogue with an open outcome. Driven by their curiosity about the architectural structure, the ‘inventory’ and conceptual considerations take place (only) on site. The title can be understood on two levels: on one hand, the conversation, the critical engagement of the artists within the exhibition situation regarding their different approaches to space; on the other hand, the attempt to intertwine both positions, despite emphasizing their differences, with their temporary enclosure. In an evoked subjectivization of each work—be it an image or a sculptural installation—the material speaks for itself through its color and surface texture.
In doing so, it addresses its counterpart and challenges specific perceptual impulses.”
