Wieland Payer - Talstation

Opening with the artist on Friday, March 28 at 7 PM.

Dr. Björn Egging from Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg will speak.

The valley station serves as a point of tranquility, a place where expeditions gather strength, the earthly before the unpredictable.

Viewers of Wieland Payer's works encounter banks of fog between towering mountains, gazing far across the land and into the metaphysical. They come across landscapes that layer upon one another like themes in a symphony.

The atmospheric density and artistic perfection of Payer's pastels and prints reference the art of German Romanticism, evoking Carl Blechen and Caspar David Friedrich. At the same time, the artist is a passionate consumer of fictional epics by Lem, Strugatski, and Tarkowski.

Wieland Payer (*1981) studied at the Kunsthochschule Burg Giebichenstein Halle (Diploma, 2008), the Accademia di Belle Arti in Rome (Erasmus scholarship), and the Royal College of Art in London (Master's, 2011). Works by the young artist are already part of esteemed public collections such as the Neue Sächsische Galerie Chemnitz, the Angermuseum Erfurt, the Klingspor Museum Offenbach, and the Royal College.
