Globalized Painting

GlobalizedPainting with Chris Biddy, Mona Broschár, Nabil ElMakhloufi, Jochen Görlach, Eckart Hahn, Nguyen Xuan Huy, Rodion Petrov, Ulrike Theusner

On Saturday, January 11 at 2 PM, we warmly invite you and your friends to our gallery in Frankfurt.

Globalization is reshaping traditional schools of painting, leading to surprising new configurations. Our exhibition "Globalized Painting" presents a series of artistically significant and technically virtuosic positions.

In the work of Nabil El Makhloufi, influences from Moroccan painting and Sufi symbols intersect with the imagery of the Leipzig School. Nguyen Xuan Huy merges themes and techniques of Vietnamese socialist realism with socially critical approaches and methods from Western advertising. Eckart Hahn points to latent aggressions lurking behind seemingly peaceful scenes, while Mona Broschár plays with the symbolic content of collapsing food items. Rodion Petrov explores what has emerged from photorealism in Eastern Europe, while Jochen Görlach bases his works on techniques from icon painting. Chris Biddy melts teenage posts into watercolors, and Ulrike Theusner skillfully translates the canon of art history into contemporary parables.
