EDWARD BURTYNSKY WATER PHOTOGRAPHS 2009 - 2013
Following the highly acclaimed exhibition OIL in 2012 at cIo Berlin, we are pleased to present, in collaboration with Galerie Stefan Röpke, Köln, a selection of photographs from the new series WATER. Burtynsky began planning this project back in 2007. WATER explores the extent and impact of industry and consumption on water resources.
However, Burtynsky also documents the various roles that water plays in our modern lives – as a fundamental yet endangered source of healthy ecosystems, as a key element in culture and religious rituals, and as a dangerously depleting raw material.
The photographs, both beautiful and haunting, create a captivating global portrait that illustrates humanity's past, present, and future relationship with nature and its most vital resource, water.
