“Brazil am Main” showcases three Brazilian artists -
Renata Egreja, Carolina Ponte, and Leonardo Ramadinha.

They represent a new generation that is internationally connected while still embracing their roots.

The vibrant abstract canvases of painter Renata Egreja (*1984 in São Paulo) draw upon the scenographic elements of Carnival – bursts of color, catchy metaphors, and rhythms. Her large-scale works develop organically and intermittently, reflecting emotions and moods. Vital outbursts of painterly energy manifest in multiple layers of paint, which are “sealed” with a linear pattern in the top color layer.

Carola Ponte (*1981 in Bahia) draws, engraves, paints, and installs. Her crochet and knotting works blur the line between craft and art. In her ornaments, the artist finds simplicity and naturalness, while also adding depth through precision, allowing them to flourish into three-dimensional forms. This results in sophisticated sculptures.

Leonardo Ramadinha (*1977 in Rio de Janeiro) confronts viewers of his photographs with fluctuating details.

He dares to halt the flow of time; the sublime constructs of his images evoke silence, even when dealing with mutable objects and realities. People can only be guessed at, and polychromy gives way to monochromy.
