Lothar Böhme Malerei und Arbeiten auf Papier

Exhibition Opening with Lothar Böhme Tuesday, July 2, 2013, 8 PM Speaker: Dr. Eugen Blume, Director of Hamburger Bahnhof

Galerie Parterre honors the Berlin painter Lothar Böhme with a retrospective in celebration of his 75th birthday.

Since 1994, a member of the Akademie der Künste, Berlin, Lothar Böhme has received numerous awards, including the Käthe Kollwitz Prize from the Akademie der Künste, Berlin, the Fred Thieler Prize for Painting from the Berlinische Galerie, and the Gerhard Altenbourg Prize from Altenburg.

He has had numerous solo exhibitions and participated in exhibitions at venues such as the Neue Nationalgalerie, the Lindenau Museum in Altenburg, the Federal Chancellery (with Strawalde), and the Museum in Mülheim/Ruhr.

“The art of Lothar Böhme is characterized by a few motifs. It is dominated by archaic-looking figures with minimal gestures: crouching, lying, and standing. The series of these solitary figures seems endless, painted not from a female model but from imagination.”
