With works by Moritz Götze, Jochen Görlach, Eckart Hahn, Teiji Hayama, Kathrin Landa, Gerd Mackensen, Nabil El Makhloufi, Nguyen Xuan Huy, Michiko Nakatani, Anishka Paine, Rodion Petrov, Ulrike Theusner

In a secret underground building – the Dollhouse – people are temporarily equipped with new personalities, memories, and special abilities, and are rented out for specific jobs, crimes, and fantasies. Outside of their assignments, they live in a state of childlike naivety. (Plot of a TV series)

Our image of the rationally guided human is increasingly faltering. We experience ourselves as instinct-driven, only slightly shaped by civilization and religion, and barely touched by reason. It is remarkable that alongside barbarism, culture emerges, and amusing how humans repeatedly turn an analytical gaze upon their own species.

For our exhibition "Dollhouse," we have invited twelve artists whose paintings and sculptures adhere to various principles of realism. They engage with the portrait, which ostensibly expresses the essence alongside external resemblance – but often only conveys appearance. The exhibition features individual portraits, group portraits, allegories, fantasies, hip shots, frontal views, profiles...

We invite you to join us for the opening on Saturday, June 22 at 9 PM, and we kindly ask you to wear a mask.
