Ink is a colored liquid that is primarily applied to paper using quills, brushes, and fountain pens.

With ink, literary masterpieces have been created, and in Asia, calligraphy holds a sacred significance. In Mediterranean cultures, the fundamental religious values of our societies have been recorded and reproduced with ink.

Now, the use of ink seems to contradict photography, as what is written no longer needs to be shaped by light.

Marita Blauth does not use ink for the permanent documentation of text; instead, she combines ink with other liquids, allowing them to take their own paths. Marita Blauth documents these trails and structures, giving a face to the fleeting moment of their existence and bringing the form to life.

Paintings, images, figures, worlds emerge—unique, ephemeral, seemingly irretrievable. A moment from the past that seems destined to vanish forever from the viewer's sight.

Yet her images are brought back to the present on paper and linen with a stream of ink, allowing the viewer to see the fleeting moment of transformation in what it originated from: ink.
