ANDY WARHOL - Pop Art Classics
Opening of the exhibition "ANDY WARHOL - Pop Art Classics" on April 26, 2013, in Nuremberg
GALERIE FLUEGEL-RONCAK, specializing in contemporary art and Pop Art, will open the exhibition
"ANDY WARHOL – Pop Art Classics" on Friday, April 26, 2013, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
The exhibition will run until June 15, 2013. Following the highly successful Warhol exhibition in 2010, this marks the second showcase of the main founder of Pop Art in Nuremberg. In addition to paper works from throughout his career, a "Toy Painting" on canvas will be displayed for the first time. The entire "Camouflage" series, which has never been fully exhibited in Germany before, will also be on view. This series, consisting of eight works, dates back to 1987, the year of the Pop Art artist's death.
Andy Warhol was born on August 6, 1928, as the son of Slovak immigrants in Pittsburgh, USA. He passed away in New York on February 22, 1987, due to complications from gallbladder surgery.
Initially working as a commercial graphic designer, he soon became a significant artist, filmmaker, and publisher. In this capacity, he was a co-founder and the most prominent representative of American Pop Art. He left behind an extensive body of work that ranges from simple advertising graphics to paintings, objects, films, and books. He was also active as a music producer.
The Pop Art movement remains one of the most successful art movements worldwide.
