Einbildungen
The exhibition at kunstraum t27 features works that seem to simulate reality, creating an impression of pseudo-realities, surrogates, or fakes. These objects and installations challenge perception in an unsettling and ambiguous manner. With their strategies of deception, the three participating artists pursue highly different objectives.
Katrin Wegemann, for instance, presents "stones" that, upon closer inspection, turn out to be made of sugar. The eternal nature of stone is contradicted by the transience of the sugary material.
Barbara Wille showcases, among other things, photo inlays whose material compositions create a tautological construct. This offers perception a kind of hyperrealism.
Tom Früchtl addresses central questions of painting and ready-mades by "makeup" objects. By painting them in nearly identical shades, these objects are "doubled" into "painting objects."
