“When we think to attach ourselves to any point and to
fasten to it, it wavers and leaves us.“ Blaise Pascal
In the exhibition „Landschaftsgänger“ it is not the
landscape that makes up the subject but what might
potentially happen out there and what we – as viewers –
could possibly imagine while looking at the picture. In this
way, the landscape is a stage on which paradox
constellations develop and bizarre dramas take place.
But how come young artists of today are starting to explore
depictions of nature again? For them, the fascinating part
lies „in between“, in the grey area forming at the
borderlines between nature and human life. The artists shift
between reality and fiction, between the natural living
environment and a more or less intact civilisation. Here, at
this pivot of the seemingly familiar, the landscape becomes
a construct, a metaphor for a crossfire of artistic intensions.
