The exhibition "Tree of Life" is a joyful celebration of life in its cosmic interconnectedness. 30works presents Ekatherina Savtchenko, an artist who places the human individual at the center of a holistic understanding of the world. Savtchenko gained international recognition with her exhibition "Unity," which was showcased from 2003 to 2006 in major cities around the world, including St. Petersburg, Moscow, New York, Beijing, Jerusalem, and Tehran. Among her enthusiastic supporters is the influential American art critic Donald Kuspit.
The native Russian studied at the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts before moving to the renowned Academy in Düsseldorf. There, she found a mentor in Michael Buthe, who encouraged her interest in sensually captivating color spaces. A.R. Penck inspired her as his master student to develop her own distinctive, stylized visual language. Since then, she has created numerous extensive bodies of work that boldly explore the questions of human existence without shying away from taboos. Her deep engagement with both scientific and spiritual phenomena provides her with the means to develop a very personal symbolism in her art. Eastern and Western modes of thought blend with abstract, figurative, and ornamental traditions.
Ekatherina Savtchenko's artistic journey is a return to the roots. She boldly and independently merges the highest subjectivity with the archetypes of a universal metaphor. The exhibition "Tree of Life" addresses the union of opposites and their transformation into pure spiritual energy through various media – painting, sculpture, and photography. With her vibrant colors and captivating dynamism, she opens up a wide spectrum that is sensually and immediately accessible to the viewer.
