RENÉ SCHOEMAKERS - CARNE LEVALE
René Schoemakers, born and raised in Kleve, studied philosophy and painting in Kiel from 1992 to 1998.
After participating in his first exhibitions in Kleve, he took part in numerous exhibitions both nationally and internationally. Nominated for various art prizes (including the Preis der Darmstädter Sezession and the Wilhelm-Morgner-Preis from the city of Soest), he received the Imke Folkerts Preis in 2009 and the Kunstpreis der Rosenheim-Stiftung and the Lucas-Cranach-Preis in 2011.
His works can be found in public collections and museums, as well as in various private collections both in Germany and abroad. René Schoemakers lives and works in Kiel.
To kick off the event, there will be a conversation with Professor Hans-Dieter Huber, Professor of Art Theory and Aesthetics at the State Academy of Fine Arts Stuttgart, and the Stuttgart artist Axel Teichmann, who is exhibiting simultaneously.
