"KAFFEE KONSTANTIN" Auf der Suche nach dem verlorenen Kapital

A significant aspect is that from the entrance of the Galerie Michaela Helfrich, one can see the two houses where KUNSTKONTAKTER once resided.

In November 2012, it will be 30 years since Konstantin Schneider, originally from Braunschweig, moved from Hamburg to Berlin-Neukölln to become a citizen of the then-divided city.

Just before Christmas in 1982, Schneider found his first Berlin home at Herrfurthstrasse 1. It consisted of a room with stove heating, a kitchen, and an outdoor toilet for a cold rent of 98 DM. Only a year later, he moved into a 2-room apartment with an indoor toilet for 175 DM, located nearby at Weisestrasse 13.

For an original like KUNSTKONTAKTER, it was clear that there could be no better place than this gallery to reflect on his Berlin beginnings and his role as KUNSTKONTAKTER, and furthermore to establish "KAFFEE KONSTANTIN" as a temporary haven for artists of all kinds and like-minded philosophical contemporaries.
