Street Art and Urban Art – ironic, provocative, and socially critical

With its international Street Art and Urban Art exhibitions, the Cologne gallery 30works has made a name for itself well beyond the city of Cologne. For the third time, their space in the Belgian Quarter will become a meeting point for the young and wild on February 4, 2012. Nine artists, who are well-known in the scene, will showcase their works in the exhibition “dirty works vol. III.”

In addition to EMESS, L.E.T., and Van Ray, the exhibition features new faces such as the pioneering French street artist Jef Aerosol, the German-Italian photographer and painter Gerry Montana, the Berlin artist duo Various & Gould, the North German artist mittenimwald, and the Cologne-based xxxhibition, whose works have already garnered attention between New York, Paris, and Berlin.

Their urban visual worlds highlight the wounds of our fast-paced information age, draw attention to the dark sides of turbo-capitalism and consumer terror, and challenge our entrenched ways of seeing and thinking. They powerfully document the creative potential of an art movement that knows no taboos and continually reinvents itself.
