Featuring works by Bjarte Alvestad, Cornelia Brintzinger, Sarah Jane Gorlitz & Wojciech Olejnik, Jens Hanke, Jane Hughes, Randi Nygård, Munan Øvrelid, Rebecca Partridge, Katie Paterson, Stephan Takkides
Opening: Friday, January 20, 7:30 PM
The art of Romanticism is characterized by a radically subjective approach. For this reason, it continues to captivate artists to this day. In contemporary art, we often see reflections of the Romantic movement that emerged after 1800.
Ten positions of international artists closely connected to the spirit of Romanticism will be exhibited at kunstraum t27. The theme of landscape serves as a common starting point for their respective approaches, ranging from quotations as a form of homage to conceptual references. The Romantic conception of the sublime and ideas of infinity play a significant role, as does the notion of landscape as a vessel for human emotions.
A unique aspect of this exhibition is that each artistic position employs a different medium (drawing, printmaking, video, painting, etc.).
