KEITH HARING Icons-White Icons
Nuremberg, December 20, 2011. GALERIE FLUEGEL-RONCAK, specializing in contemporary art and Pop Art, will open the exhibition "KEITH HARING Icons-White Icons" on Friday, February 3, 2012, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
The exhibition will run until March 15, 2012. It will feature a juxtaposition of the two complete portfolios "Icons" and "White Icons," created in 1990.
Keith Haring was born in 1958 in Pennsylvania, USA, and was heavily influenced by graffiti throughout his life. He passed away on February 16, 1990, in New York due to complications from AIDS.
He is considered one of the leading figures of the Pop Art movement, alongside Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein. His iconic imagery and stick figures quickly made him famous worldwide.
The works displayed in the exhibition include nearly retrospective representations of the most important symbols and subjects from his oeuvre, such as the "Barking Dog," the "Radiant Child," and "Angel."
In this context, the colored works will be contrasted with those rendered in monochromatic white. This is the first time these two portfolios have been shown together in Europe.
“Radiant Child” became Haring's logo and trademark.
He once said that a baby represents the possibilities of the future and how perfect we humans could be.
There is nothing negative about a baby, ever. A baby is the most innocent and positive testament to human existence.
