Douze Ans – Siebdruckausstellung von Lars P. Krause
A gig poster is a seemingly short-lived piece of paper, made only for one concert. Despite this momentariness, subtle stories, band backgrounds and some odd sociocritical or political allusion are apparent for those who enter with open eyes.
Dresden-based Lars P. Krause established himself as one of the most known German silkscreen poster artists. His gleaming multiple-color prints are far from being mass products, manufactured at a small studio in the city’s most bustling district Neustadt. Besides many subcultural artists, well-known bands such as Beatsteaks or Die Ärzte frequently ask for Krause’s unique works which only come in small editions. Celebrating his 12th anniversary, okazigallery presents a Best Of Lars P. Krause, showing even some new works.
The silkscreen poster cult has developed in America in the early 1990th, inspired by psychedelic music, and unites an ambitious crowd of US printers. However, in Germany, only a few artists indulge in this complex and rather expensive procedure. Thus, the piece itself becomes a statement against a mere capitalistic orientation. It’s art and if it also sells, it’s great!
