SCHWARZDENKER

Leiter Nationalgalerie im Hamburger Bahnhof, Museum für
Gegenwart, Berlin
Svenja Ritter, Studium HBK Saarbrücken, Co-Kuratorin des
Afghanischen Pavillons 51. Biennale Venedig präsentieren wir
in einer weiteren Soloausstellung mit ihrer aktuellen
Installation RELIQUIEN DER SCHWARZDENKER. ́Ein
melancholischer Kopf ist das Badehaus des Teufels ́ besagte
wohl im Mittelalter eine gebräuchliche Redewendung. Ritter
thematisiert in ihrer Installation RELIQUIEN DER
SCHWARZDENKER die Melancholie und hinterfragt u.a. ob die
öffentliche Wahrnehmung sich im Laufe der Zeit wirklich
grundlegend verändert hat. Melancholie, eine Krankheit, die
man nicht haben darf und deren Veröffentlichung immer noch
dem Kranken charakterliche Schwächen, Labilität, geringe
Belastbarkeit unterstellt. Mit Mitteln der Malerei und der
Objektkunst hat die Künstlerin einen begehbaren Kopf eines
Schwarzdenkers geschaffen, wobei Ritter in diesem Fall Mittel
für angebracht hielt, die keine Reflexion der Realität
ermöglichen. GALERIE PETRA NOSTHEIDE-EŸCKE freut sich
neue Skulpturen und Malerei von Svenja Ritter zu
präsentieren.

We present Svenja Ritter, who studied at the HBK
Saarbrücken, co-curator of the Afghan Pavilion 51 at the
Venice Biennale, in a further solo exhibition with her current
installation RELIQUIEN DER SCHWARZDENKER (RELICS OF
THE BLACK THINKERS). 'A melancholic head is the bath house
of the devil´ said a common idiom in the Middle Ages. In her
installation RELIQUIEN DER SCHWARZDENKER, Ritter
addresses this melancholy and questions, among other things,
whether public perception has really changed fundamentally
over time. Melancholy, an illness that you shouldn’t have, and
the disclosure of which still imputes the sufferer with character
weaknesses, instability, an inability to cope. By means of
painting and object art, the artist has created a walk-in head
of a black thinker, whereby, in this case, Ritter chose means
that do not allow for reflection of reality. GALERIE PETRA
NOSTHEIDE-EŸCKE is pleased to present new paintings and
sculptures by Svenja Ritter.
